Here's another story:
The year was 1992. I was 6 years old. My family and I were visiting South Florida on vacation (we lived in Massachusetts at the time). Little did we know, however, that Hurricane Andrew would be making its historic landfall during our visit. Luckily, we had family friends with whom we were able to stay with in Coral Springs.
During the long and uncertainty-filled hours of our enhunkering, I was invited by the kind hosts to watch E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on VHS in one of the bedrooms by myself to help allay my boredom and worry. It was my first time seeing the film and from that point forward, the opening notes of John Williams' majestic score were permanently etched into my brain. Now, whenever I hear that lovely wind melody, I am instantly whisked back to that dark bedroom where I lay so close to the television set enraptured by this particular unfolding cinematic tale as such great havoc and devastation unspooled beyond.
I hope everyone who's affected by this storm can find an alike kind of peace and calm during moments as tense and harrowing as these. "B good" and safe, all!
