Blog Post #216: Original 'Norstadt of Lanshire' Notes!

Updated: Dec 15

Here's an excerpt from a document I recently unearthed, encapsulating the ideas of the original Norstadt of Lanshire as though it were a nascent film production!

11/23/2000

Note: The following is a tale about a dragon slayer and his life in Lanshire. Sir Norstadt of Lanshire is the protagonist's name; Roth being the antagonist. The setting is the mystical and enchanting lands of Lanshire: a redwood forest, a black sea, jagged edge mountains and a heavenly meadow. It concentrates mostly on Norstadt (should pretty much be in every scene of the film) and his quest to vanquish the evil in society. The major conflict is between Norstadt and Roth, the classic episode of good vs. evil. In the plot, Norstadt wishes to seek revenge on the maniacal beast. Eventually, he brings relief to the kingdom of Cereliohn by the slaying of Roth. For the kingdom was plagued for years by Roth. And so pre-production begins...

Character: Norstadt (35-50) - A rather disheveled man, brandishing a sword and shield of dragon hide. His motive is good. Interesting, strange. Fully explainable mannerisms of a casual dragon slayer. Plays the main protagonist. Boasts of his cunning with arrogance. Fairly long hair with two long, braided strands of the same length on the sides. Wears a cloak about 35% of the show. Talks in an English/Scottish accent. Facial hair is reminiscent of an American Civil War general. That's about it for the moment.

Climax: Norstadt rides his horse trying to escape the wrath of the winged one. Roth soon catches up but Norstadt with his clever and decisive thinking has set up a bit of a trap for Roth. He has scaled an abandoned scout tower and tied a rope to an arrow ready to be fired from a crossbow by Norastadt. As soon as Roth swoops over Norstadt, he fires the arrow and is attached to the foul beast. And so Norstadt climbs the rope just before it disengages and Norstadt is now on the dragon running on the scaly hide. Roth then suddenly notices that Norstadt is on him. After a large dive and twists and turns, Norstadt manages to deliver a thrust of his sword. Then, Roth does something daring and goes full throttle toward the sky to whisk the air away from Norstadt. Norstadt then climbs the dragon's scales, reaches Roth's exposed heart and thrusts his sword into it. Roth is finished. Norstadt dies or lives. The Battle of Roth.
