Happy Holidays, friends and followers!
I hope I'm not the only one who can chalk up another fairly productive trip around the sun! For my part, twenty-twenty-four saw countless industrious visits to my libraries, coffee shops and fast food restaurants of choice with my trusty budget Surface device; an unexpected funding strategy which allowed production on my 4th film Ask Delphi (the script was written in the spring of this year) to begin in the fall and, later in the year, development on my 2nd book Norstadt. Here are some updates about the film and the book:
As it stands, my 4th feature film effort is approximately 80% complete and I am extremely pleased with the results so far. Ask Delphi is definitely my most ambitious feature film in terms of narrative design, cast and locations. And I stand by my characterization of the film as "For My Sister on steroids." I expect the film to be completely finished in the spring of 2025.
My next, more literary, exercise is also shaping up well enough as I've recently finished a fairly detailed outline of the piece. The writing of the actual text will of course precede any concentrated design and illustration work but I look forward to both stages with abundant glee. I expect Norstadt to be a challenging but satisfying return to my visual art and storytelling roots. I expect the book to be ready for publishing in late 2025. You can keep up with the project pace-by-pace on my Patreon page!
While the outlook of my creative future, like any independent artist's, is always saddled with uncertainty, I continue to barrel forward with my present slate while dreaming of even more films and books to come. On the occasion of my 200th blog post came an allusion to plans to strike at the outmoded film festival system. This remains a goal, however distant, and would involve organizing with local filmmakers to offer a new vision of filmmakers' place in their respective cities (not just in Miami). But regardless of whether such flights of fancy take off, thank you for your interest and support as my humble, grassroots artistic endeavors continue!
Hasta la victoria siempre and Happy New Year, everyone!
