A few traits filmmakers can borrow from the classical music world:
Not unusual for a single person to write and conduct the voices of 100+ orchestral musicians
Innovation at an individual level can spur widely adopted revolutions in form
Compositions are catalogued systematically as part of a personal canon or portfolio
Discipline, hard work and relentless study and training are required of practitioners
Exists a tradition of producing and disseminating literature on theory and practice
