Thank you to FIU Film Studies Program and NAMI on Campus at FIU for hosting last night's screening of my first feature-length film, For My Sister!
The turnout was solid and my film was warmly received. Of noteworthy attendance was Dr. Geysha Menendez, from the hit Spanish-language TV show, Caso Cerrado, as well as Mrs. Louise Farnsworth, a former high school teacher who's always been a huge supporter of mine.
After the screening, I hosted a mental health-themed panel featuring students from the on-campus NAMI organization with lived experiences of mental illness. The panel addressed the authenticity of my film, the stigma associated with mental illness and how to cope with depression. The discussion was lively and insightful.
